Indemnity

I understand that participating in the activities of the Kiwi Waka Ama Singapore Club carries with it the inherent risk of physical injury, including serious injuries such as permanent disability, paralysis and even death and in undertaking such activities I do so at my own risk.

I am also aware that it is a condition to my participation in any event that Kiwi Waka Ama Singapore, its officers, employees, representatives, agents, volunteers, instructors, members, or servants are absolved from all liability howsoever arising from injury or damage howsoever caused (whether fatal or otherwise) arising out of my participation in an event or in training, instruction or carriage in any vessel being used for or in connection with dragon boat/outrigger canoe racing or in any way whatsoever due to any negligent act, breach of duty, default and/or omission on the part of Kiwi Waka Ama Singapore, its respective officers, employees, representatives, agents, volunteers, instructors, members, or servants.

I am also aware that any person participating in dragon boat training, dragon boat racing, outrigger canoe racing, learning to outrigger, training or being involved with any vessel being used for or in connection with dragon boating or outrigger canoe racing or participating in any activity carried out by Kiwi Waka Ama Singapore are only allowed to do so on the distinct understanding that they do so at their own risk.

I am also aware that all boats, equipment and other personal items are stored at my own risk and do not hold Kiwi Waka Ama Singapore responsible for any theft, damage or loss. This agreement shall be binding upon and inure to the benefit of the parties, their successors, administrators, assigns and personal representatives in consideration of being allowed to participate in the activities of the Kiwi Waka Ama Singapore, which includes training for and participating in regattas.

In consideration of Kiwi Waka Ama Singapore allowing me to participate in its activities, I undertake that if, in the course of such activities, I deliberately or negligently cause any injury (whether fatal or otherwise) to any person or any damage to or loss of any property of any person, I shall indemnify Kiwi Waka Ama Singapore if that suffering person makes claims or takes actions against Kiwi Waka Ama Singapore or Kiwi Waka Ama Singapore has to pay for costs or expenses.

Kiwi Waka Ama Singapore Code of Conduct

·         Show respect for all club members regardless of differences in knowledge and ability

·         Show respect for coaches, managers, whānau members, supporters, the wider Waka Ama fraternity, all other water users and the general public

·         Respect the opposition and their supporters

·         Be humble winners and gracious losers

·         Refrain from verbal or physical abuse of any person, club member or otherwise, including through the medium of technology

·         Resolve conflicts in a timely and responsible manner, dealing with the issue not personalities

·         Respect and care for facilities and equipment

·         Use correct safety practices at all times

·         Discourage practices such as the use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs which are harmful to both health and performance

·         Participate within the rules and the code of conduct at all times

 The Club Committee reserves the right to censure any member who blatantly breaches the code of conduct.
